180 Fest is the brainchild of eight De Montfort University (DMU) students as part of thieir 3rd Year Module for an Arts & Festival Management Degree. The brief was to organise a multi day event to include a variety of art forms not just concentrating on music. The University supplied a budget of £1,000. The students then divided the job roles and began booking venues and artists to take part in the festival. Five months later their hard work, enthusiasm and passion has paid off as this new exciting festival is due to take place next weekend.
180 Fest proudly supports local artists and talent with 90% of the line up being Leicester based. Each venue will hold two events across the weekend. From music, burlesque to spoken word there will be something to engage everyone's interest. The Exchange will be hosting the following events:
Friday 10th March - Story Telling 7pm

'Light from the Shadows'
The spring solstice approaches, a time when day and night, light and dark hang in the balance It's a time to re-visit the oldest and most human of art forms - storytelling. Join internationally acclaimed performers Mike Payton and Tim Ralphs as they bring myth, legend and folk tale to life in an evening where divine and the infernal, the vital and the ghostly, the joyful and the cruel dance as equal partners in the stories shared.

The talented Ffion Piper alongside other designers will put on a Contour Fashion show. Come along and check out the next generation of up and coming talent. This is a show you not to be missed!
Saturday 11th March – Comedy 2.30pm
Daniel Nicholas Comedy will be performing in the cellar with his show Poster Boy.
Above are the 180 Fest Team, eight lovely ladies ranging from their 20's - 30's. Their aim to create a unique festival accessible to all. To try and get rid of the stigma and snobbery attached to the arts and to encourage those who wound't usually attend such an event to come and give it a try!
