Well it's finally here our St. George's Beer Festival starts today from 4pm with live music from 6pm. There is so much happening this weekend in the Cultural Quarter alongside our event. There is a Vegan Festival at The Athena and the annual St. George's Festival will be taking place on Saturday 22nd from 12noon - 5pm on Orton Square and at venues around the Cultural Quarter, St. George's area and Leicester Market. There will be free activities throughout Saturday including maypole dancing, a knights and princesses parade and even a dragon trail!
Here is our final round up of the beers, ciders and meads that will be available over this fanatic St. George's Beer Festival weekend.
Scribbler’s Ales, St. Apleford’s Brewery will be bringing to us Beerfest at Tiffany’s 3.8%. A traditional, English session Bitter, made with Fuggles and Brewers Gold to give a slightly spicy after taste. As you may have guessed from the name they are just as passionate about books as they are about the beers they brew! It must be fun making up the names of the beers as much as it is brewing them.
Baker’s Dozen based in Ketton brew a high-quality range of beers with an emphasis on striking brews that break the traditional mould. This weekend we will be serving their System of a Brown 4.1% American Brown Ale. Centennial and Bravo hops add a new world punch to an old world classic ale.
From Warwick comes The Slaughter House Brewery with their Pacific Pale 4.2% a crisp pale ale packed full of New Zealand Hops; Pacific Gem and Green Bullet. The Slaughterhouse Brewery is an award winning 4-barrel microbrewery located in historic Warwick, in the heart of England. They are dedicated to the creation of fine handcrafted cask conditioned beers and ales.
Adnams of Suffolk Fat Sprat 3.8% will also be available. A Pale amber, summer beer with Cascade and Chinook hops. It has a lovely citrus, grapefruit aroma with some spicy notes. Established in 1872, Adnams is best known as a brewer of beer.
Milestone Brewery have brought to us their Honey Porter 4.9% smooth, rich, easy drinker. Their philosophy, as a craft brewery, is to use tradition based recipes, the finest ingredients and the best available equipment and technology.
Bottle Kicking Cider Company have supplied us with 4 delicious ciders; Fullback 4.5% 'a no nonsense medium dry cider’. Scrambler 7% their highest ABV cider! A well-balanced medium dry cider. As well as their Rhubarb and Strawberry 4% and Apple and Mango 4%.
Mead is said to be the nectar of the gods, the golden liquor of poets, lovers and kings and thought by many an elixir of health, fertility and longevity. This weekend we bring to you English Meads for your pleasure.
Lyme Bay Winery - Traditional Mead 14.5% a sweet and deliciously full-flavoured mead that is one of their best sellers…and in a flagon! Their award-winning meads are fermented, blended and aged on site using secret blends of honey to create the rich, floral and pungent characteristics for which they are famed.
Lindisfarne Mead - Spiced Mead 14.5% their first new mead in nearly half a century, it blends carefully chosen spices with their already famous mead. Lindisfarne Mead is a unique alcoholic fortified wine manufactured on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. It is a vatted blend of honey, locally drawn water, fermented grape juice and neutral spirits.
Cornish Mead Company - Mead Wine 14% grape wine with a delicious honey taste. Strawberry Mead 17% their classic grape wine base enriched with strawberry juices. Elderberry Mead 17% the grape wine mixed with the unique taste of elderberries. The family behind Cornish Mead Co, started producing their mead inspired drinks in 1960, in fact the very first bottles were made in their great-grandfather's back kitchen.
This year we are adding a little something different to the menu with our mead cocktails.
